June 7th at the Portland Expo.
Boy was it great.
Close games are always the best and the MRD Calamity Janes put on a good show, seemingly letting the Killah Bees get up there with them on the scoreboard. Bruises galore. Great g-d almighty!
The Killah Bees kick ass but they are no match for our rugged Maine girls!
Down to the last minutes and it's 57 to 57.
How can this be?!
Sudden death match to be had. Two minutes girls! That's all you got to score.
Down to 17 seconds! Go, girls, go!
Shelby Bruisin' of the Bees goes down! She's hurt but she's tough. This means a redue.
And the Calamity Janes win by a hairpile.
This means MRD is still UNDEFEATED! (I know the photos are super fuzzy but damn these girls skate fast!)

"Show on a Bus" AM Frank & The 500s
Where were you last night?
You missed a show down that can only end in a tie, striped not spotted. Well, not really a show down, more of a show off as these two bands are dissimilar in many ways that cannot be differences.
The show was to start at 7 but the titular bus didn't arrive until a little after 8 so things got started little late. My g-d this bus was a scrumy gutter punkers dream! Filled with dirt and filth and smelled of old socks dieing in a tin pan alley. It was wonderful. AM F played inside the said bus while 500s played the outside.
This AM Frank consists of a hot lady dancer/moaner, singer dude who plays keytar and regular guitar, and a keyboard/keytar guy. So that's three members for AM F. And they are all smokey and noiselovely. I danced like a monkey at a disco. Which is how I would say they sound, a monkey at a disco. This was the funnest. I don't know if they have any recorded music but I'm gonna ask next time I'm in Strange Maine. A.M. Frank
The 500s consist of Isaac, Sammie, and Jonathan. They are a reg band with guitar, keys, and drums. Not so crazyass as AM Frank but perhaps a bit more rockin' and the rollin'. And here again three members with the Isaac on guitar, Sammie on keys, and Jonathan on drums/singin', well they all sing but you couldn't really hear coz yeah they're outside but they had it turned up loud and had us sing along to "the song you sing to me". These guys are fab! Get their cd OMG! OMG! OMG! THE 500S WTF? at Strange Maine on Congress st. It's the sweetest core. The 500s
Some other cool band played but I didn't get to see them as I had a spitting head pain that killed me and I had to thumb a ride with AM F back to the 7-11 oh thank heavens to get some late night food. Thanks AM Frank!

Maine Roller Derby
On May 17th the Port Authorities maintained their undefeated status in an outrageous game against the Connecticut Stepford Sabotage. The Sabotage gave a game worth playing (these ladies kick major ass) but the Authorities are a damn fine team.
Skates flying, body parts wailing into other people, ladies sliding across the floor in shorts and fishnets, Lois Blow knocking everyone down, I couldn't ask for anything better.
So now the Port Authorities are 6-0.
Next up the Maine Calamity Janes vs. the Providence Killah Bee's on June 7th.
I can't wait to see these ladies in action.

All My Tattoo Is Funny
Looking for a new tattoo. Perhaps I'll have my tattoo guy, John Biswell on Exchange St, wing it and ink whatever he wants within the Sailor Jerry realm. Usually I get tattoos that are unique to me but with John I just let him do his thing. I trust him. Which is more than I can say for most people.
For me it's not the art that inspires me but the adrenaline rush I get as the needle pounds into my flesh. It's a high. And since I'm drug-free it's the only way I can feel this.
Let's see if I can name all the tattoo places in Portland's peninsula:
John (of course), Sanctuary, Tsunami, Just Good Tattoos, Utopia, Pins & Needles, um.... what's that one on Congress St called? Hallow Ground?, and Blndsght.
